Leanne Singh (she/her) is an NYC-based freelance flutist and music educator. Leanne performs on flute, piccolo, and alto flute with a variety of ensembles including NY Chamber Players, Concetta Ensemble, Mozart for Munchkins, Mary Gatchell's Chamber Orchestra, Leon Lacey's Black Tie Symphonic Orchestra. Leanne has performed in notable venues such as Carnegie Hall, Skirball Center, Philadelphia's Kimmel Center, NJPAC, The French Consulate in NYC, Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music, and in a variety of venues throughout Europe. Leanne can be heard on albums by trumpeter Kate Amrine, This Is My Letter to the World and violinist/singer-songwriter Concetta Abbate, Mirror Touch. Recently, she performed with GRAMMY-winning gospel legends, The Clark Sisters. She holds a bachelors degree in flute performance from NYU where she studied with Keith Underwood, Kathleen Nester (NJ Symphony), and Daniel Havel (Prague National Symphony Orchestra).
In addition to performing, Leanne has extensive teaching experience with learners of all ages, and holds a New York State Professional Teaching Certification in music. Prior to stepping away from full time teaching to focus on her performance career and other projects, Leanne spent the first 6 years of her professional career establishing and growing an instrumental music program at 75 Morton Middle School (MS 297) from 2019-2025. She served on the Music Educators Advisory Board for for Carnegie Hall's Music Educators Workshop from 2021-2022. In 2024, she founded Ensemble Room NYC, a series of small group music classes focused on collaborative and creative music-making under the guidance of professional musicians with offerings for all ages, experience levels, and instruments. Leanne also maintains a private flute studio in Manhattan, and teaches flute at NYC's Middle School Arts Audition Bootcamp, held at Lincoln Center each summer.
Prior to the pandemic, Leanne founded and served as the artistic director of Femmelody Chamber Music Collective, an NYC-based collective with the mission of giving the historically silenced voices of women in classical music a new chance to sing out. She contracted, curated and performed in chamber music concerts featuring women musicians performing works by women, and established an Open Mic/Talkback series focused on celebrating the vibrant artistic voices of today's women.
When she is not working, Leanne can be found strolling Fort Tryon Park in Upper Manhattan with her husband, Satya, and their dog, Cooper.
